Day Services Supervisor
Position Summary

The Day Services Supervisor shares responsibility for the overall operation of the LISTEN Center’s Day Services program. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, professional development, and management of the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The Day Services Supervisor also assures proper implementation of the LISTEN Center’s policies and procedures. The role oversees and assists in the coordination and delivery of care following the Overall Service Plans for those we serve at the LISTEN Center. Individual Overall Service Plans include programs and activities for daily living, community integration, socialization, health management, etc., giving those we serve the tools for self-advocacy to live independently and with dignity.In addition to supervising the DSPs, the Day Services Supervisor also provides direct support in activities and supervision of the individuals we serve at the LISTEN Center to help them achieve their personal goals. The on-site job duties require representing the LISTEN Center in a professional and productive manner. This includes being respectful to coworkers and supervisor(s), being prepared for work each day, being productive in the workplace, and attending to work-related matters while complying with deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to work as both a supervisor and Direct Support Professional (DSP)
  • Provide direct supervision to DSPs, including assisting with hiring, training, professional development, observing and providing feedback to staff, and completing annual evaluations
  • Advocate for and provide fair and respectful behavior towards fellow employees by being a strong role model, solving employee challenges, offering encouragement, and jumping in to help staff when necessary
  • Maintain proper documentation 
  • Attend mandatory training and meetings and implement the agreements made at the meetings
  • Provide outstanding support and services for people with developmental disabilities, enabling them to participate as fully as they wish in all aspects of community life 
  • Maintain and support a master calendar, participant files, and documentation of activities 
  • Report medical concerns, conditions, and changes in health status in a timely fashion 
  • Encourage positive interactions among staff and the people served throughout the Day Services program, as well as when people visit and during community outings 
  • Foster positive interactions with those we serve by enacting behavior intervention techniques when necessary 
  • Ensure a safe environment where individuals are free from abuse and neglect 
  • Understand and follow the LISTEN Center's guidelines detailed in the policy manual, including protecting the rights of persons served, following all state and federal regulations, and adhering to LISTEN Center's time and attendance expectations
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • In-field supervisory experience preferred
  • Frontline Supervisor certification via Minot State preferred upon hire, or must obtain within 6 months of becoming a Day Services Supervisor
  • Minimum of two or more years of related experience working with, caring for and/or training individuals with disabilities 
  • Knowledgeable about how to interact with people with all types of disabilities and to maximize their potential for self-sufficiency
  • Interact cordially and productively with a variety of people
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with colleagues
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills with ability to organize multiple projects with varying time-sensitive deadlines
  • Encourage and model positive communications
  • Employ the principles of People First and the Active Support Models to engage those we serve
  • Proficient and competent use of technology for documentation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Background check
