The LISTEN Center is looking for a Nurse to join our dynamic team! Position Summary

The Nurse is responsible for providing training and in-service sessions on health and medical issues to best prepare and assist the LISTEN staff in the overall daily care, activity, and safety of the people we serve at the LISTEN Center Day and Residential Services. The Nurse conducts training and in-services for LISTEN Center Day and Residential Services staff on topics such as first aid/CPR, medication administration, health conditions (including diabetes), bloodborne pathogens, and nutrition/healthy diet information. This role is also responsible for updating health policies, and reviewing, updating and maintaining all medical records. Additional responsibilities include completing incident reports and ensuring compliance with Title XIX, CQL, and North Dakota HCBS waiver services standards. This position is on-site for both Day Services and the Residential program. The job duties require representing LISTEN in a professional and productive manner. This includes being respectful to coworkers and supervisor(s), being prepared for work each day, being productive in the workplace, and attending to work-related matters while complying with deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct training and in-services on health and medical issues such as but not limited to:
    o Detecting signs of illness or disfunction that warrant medical or nursing
    interventions
    o Basic skills required to meet the health needs and problems of individuals
    o First aid for accidents and illnesses
    o Yearly training on bloodborne pathogens (BBP) with all staff
  • Conduct training and in-services as needed in medication administration procedures; conduct the medication module testing and practicum to certify LISTEN staff; complete yearly recertifications
  • Conduct training and in-services on diabetic health/diets and insulin administration;conduct the diabetic module testing and practicum with certify LISTEN staff;complete yearly recertifications
  • Conduct first aid & CPR training for LISTEN staff (re)certification
  • Assist with the development and updating of health policies and records maintenance
  • Review medical records for the individuals that LISTEN supports and complete a T-log after reviewing; document any comments or recommendations in Therap under Health Information; review all health records on Therap
  • Be available as needed to handle staff questions or concerns about an individual’s medical condition by phone
  • Be available as needed to talk with medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacy on behalf of the people we serve
  • Be available for on-site residential training, as well as conduct residential observations
  • Contact guardians and other agencies to order medications, yearly standing orders, and updated scripts; discuss medical concerns as needed
  • Ensure the organization is in compliance with TITLE XIX, CQL and ND HCBS waiver services standards
  • Understand and follow the LISTEN Center’s guidelines detailed in the policy manual, including protecting the rights of persons served, following all state and federal regulations, and adhering to LISTEN Center’s time and attendance expectations
Requirements
  • Graduate of state-approved school of nursing with proper certification
  • Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in North Dakota with unencumbered license
  • Minimum of 1-year experiences as an RN in a nursing home, hospital, or developmental disability provider setting
  • Ability to develop, update, and maintain records according to LISTEN’S, CQL, AND ND HCBS waiver services standards
  • Employ the principles of People First and the Active Support Models to engage those we serve
  • Possess current valid driver’s license
  • Background check
  • Employment offer conditioned upon a negative test for illegal substances
Starting Wage
$38 Per hour

Wage increase with years of experience
