The LISTEN Center is looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our dynamic team and perform the following duties in person from mid-afternoon into the evening hours. The LISTEN Center is an amazing place staffed with dedicated people helping those with intellectual and developmental disabilities become as independent and selfsufficient as possible through support, encouragement, and dignity. The Community Engagement Coordinator supports our mission and is responsible for all outreach efforts for LISTEN’s Drop-In Center. This role is responsible for increasing awareness of the center’s offerings through a variety of outreach avenues, with the goal of increasing the number of participants served by the LISTEN Center.The Community Engagement Coordinator focuses on recruitment and retention of drop-in participants, as well as meeting with individuals served to ensure the center becomes a model of inclusion in the community. This role is responsible for developing and leading a LISTEN-based volunteer program to support day-to-day LISTEN Center services. The position will work closely with the Director of the Drop-In Center to support daily operations, including oversight of the activity calendar, staffing, and commercial kitchen responsibilities.
- Increase community awareness of LISTEN Center program offerings by engaging in outreach activities and other marketing opportunities
- Drive growth in number of Drop-In program participants through recruitment and retention of individuals with disabilities and other minority groups across the community
- Create and oversee a pool of volunteers aligned with LISTEN’s mission and vision who are willing to support identified organizational activities
- Ensure the LISTEN Center-based volunteer program adheres to established criteria for participation, provide training for areas supported, and maintain the volunteer schedule
- Meet with the individuals served by the community center to assess needs, gather feedback, and develop programs and services that cater to their specific requests
- Assist in the coordination of inclusion workshops to enhance awareness and understanding of disability I and minority issues within the community
- Collaborate with the LISTEN Drop-In Program Director and other stakeholders on programmatic and operational planning to ensure the highest quality service and offerings
- Develop and oversee a daily activity calendar for all Drop-In activities, ensuring the information is published and shared in all designated areas (internet, department, email distribution) for maximum participation exposure
- Foster positive interaction with those we serve by following behavior intervention techniques when necessary
- Ensure a safe environment where individuals are free from abuse and neglect
- Understand and follow the LISTEN Center’s guidelines detailed in the policy
manual, including protecting the rights of persons served, following all state and federal regulations, and adhering to LISTEN Center’s time and attendance
expectations
